    There will be two broad categories of slates running Microsoft's platform: those based on ARM chips that will run Windows RT and those that have an Intel x86 chip at their core, running Windows 8. Out of the two, Hewlett-Packard, the largest maker of personal computers, will only go with the Intel chip (at least at the beginning).
