If a tipster is to be believed, the Google's next phone, which some are calling the "Nexus Prime", should be very light on pre-install apps (which some call "bloatware"). In addition to the the standard set of apps that one would expect (Browser, Calendar, Contacts, etc.), there are some more interesting .APKs that may be bundled with the phone. The first item of note is the FaceLock.apk that we told you about last month. With a name like that the app could be a facial-recognition lock-screen that uses your own face as the "password" to unlock your phone. How cool would that be! Next, ...

"Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced". Take a minute to recover from this! Just after we've seen the Nexus Prime in its full glory and we caught some screenshots of the new Google platform, Samsung and Google decide that the world needs to wait a little bit more for the event. Is there something last minute discovered? Are they adding something? Or is it because there's really nothing to announce now that everything is on the ...

Lots of speculations about the upcoming Samsung-Google device with even two names -- for two different models -- being mentioned: the Nexus Prime and the Galaxy Nexus. We saw some mock-ups earlier today (we have to admit they're really close) and Samsung itself teased the phone in an ad but we've now got the real thing! In the image above you can allegedly see probably the first real life image of the Samsung Nexus Prime. It appears that the phone has a 1750 mAh, according to the person leaking the images, and a five-megapixel camera. It's made from plastic and contains two brown-based ...

Earlier today, we heard what were supposed to be the hardware specs for the upcoming Nexus Prime, or now "Galaxy Prime", as we were told the phone would be called. Once those figures were public, the boys over at GSM Arena noticed something was amiss, as they had also heard from a source who's supposed to be in-the-know, and were given a significantly different breakdown of the phone's hardware capabilities. For starters, they put the phone's processor at 1.5GHz, instead of the 1.2GHz from earlier today (dual-core, of course). Going hand-in-hand with the changed processor, they expect the ...

The phone some call the Samsung Nexus Prime and others the Samsung Galaxy Nexus might look like the device pictured above if the mock-up image that landed in our inbox turns out to be true. You might remember the Samsung ad that teased a phone which was later cleaned up by a Photoshop artist. That video showed the right side of the phone with the power button and the three connectors. The render above seems to show the exact opposite left side of the phone. Given Samsung's track record of putting the power button on the right side we'd say the image above has got it wrong. That aside, (and ...

We've been treating Samsung's Unpacked event scheduled for next week at CTIA like the debut of the Galaxy/Nexus Prime, and corresponding launch of Android Ice Cream Sandwich, were all but a given. There have been plenty of reasons to think this is the case, and suitable hints have been dropped, but there's been very little in the way of compelling evidence about what's supposed to go down. We've now seen what might be the first strong sign that an Ice Cream Sandwich launch is definitely taking place, thanks to the discovery of a holding page for the event's streaming coverage on YouTube. ...

Recently Samsung has put up a video teasing something we all wanted to believe it was the upcoming Nexus Prime Google-phone the company will soon unveil at the Unpacked CTIA event. Greyhaven7 literally did some Photoshop magic and took Samsung's video cleaning up the phone it teased. What you can see in the image above could very well be the first official shot of the next Google phone. We're seeing the left right side with the power button and the three connectors probably for accessories. Also notice the curved/arched design a la Nexus S and the typical Samsung hump at the bottom, where ...

We've already gotten a glimpse of Samsung's upcoming Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone thanks to a teaser made by Samsung. We are now less than a week away from the launch of this device, slated for October 11. It'll mark the annoucenment of one of the most impressively-spec'ed phones released to date, plus the unveiling of the next version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0). BGR has posted what appears to be very believable specifications for the "Galaxy Nexus" (and not the "Nexus Prime" as previously thought). The Galaxy Nexus will sport a TI OMAP dual-core 1.2GHz CPU with 1GB ...

Samsung's got something big planned for CTIA next week, and the expectations are running high that we'll finally get a look at the Nexus Prime in all its Ice Cream Sandwich glory. Assuming that actually goes down, and Samsung debuts the handset, when might we hope for it to hit the carriers? There's a new email leak out of Verizon that suggests big red could have the phone by October 27. All we have is the text of the message, not even a screenshot (not that someone couldn't just-as-easily fake a screenshot), so get your skeptic helmet on. Supposedly the list advises Verizon employees when ...

We know there will be a Samsung Unpacked event at the upcoming CTIA where everyone is expecting the company to unveil its next Google-phone, the rumored Nexus Prime. The teaser video below doesn't give much away but if you fast forward there's something showing at the end. It's up to you to decide whether that's the first look at the Nexus Prime with a (too) curved screen a-la Nexus S or something else. The new Exynos processor should be inside the next Google phone to give that extra boost Ice Cream Sandwich might need but it looks like we'll have to wait until October 11 to find out more ...

With October upon us, it's just a matter of days until Samsung and Google debut their new gear – what we're hoping very much to be the Nexus Prime. In advance of the planned October 11 event, a picture has arrived of what's claimed to be the Nexus Prime itself, showing off its high resolution, high density screen. While this tease of an image only shows off one small bit of the phone's exterior, we can see via the software its running that the phone does indeed have a 720p display. Why only 1184 pixels high, though? Don't forget this is Ice Cream Sandwich, and in addition to the status ...

We already know that Samsung is preparing an Unpacked event for October 11 at CTIA but at the time we've seen the logo teaser we didn't know what to expect. Things changed a bit with Samsung sending out invitations for the event. If you check out the above image, you can clearly see that something Android related will be unpacked. Additionally, the "Google Episode" reference further hints towards a joint Samsung-Google unveiling and last time we checked it was the next Google Nexus device. Call it Nexus Prime, Galaxy Nexus or whatever you want, all things indicate we'll officially see the ...

October is shaping up to be a very big time for new smartphone hardware, due in no small part to Apple's plans to announce its next iPhone(s). If you're not on the Apple bandwagon, there's still plenty of new hardware on other platforms that's being eagerly anticipated, like the Nexus Prime from Samsung. We've been fielding plenty of rumors addressing the reveal and release plans for the smartphone (as well as Android Ice Cream Sandwich), and now a new one looks at the possibility the Nexus Prime will make its debut at CTIA. The theory is centered on a "favorite product" contest hoping to ...

This weekend we learned from a leakster that the Google Nexus Prime will most probably land on Verizon on November 3. That same leakster has tweeted further information implying that the phone will see a global launch with both GSM and WiMAX support. With "GSM or wimax radios inside", the Google Nexus Prime, as it should be the case of a pure-Android phone, should work without a problem on carriers like AT&T or Sprint. Whether we'll see a November 3 launch for the global model or only the Verizon variant is yet unknown though Samsung (and Google) would highly benefit of such a launch. ...

Google Nexus Prime, Samsung Nexus Prime, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and so on... There are many names to it but in fact it's one device that the Android enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for. The pure Android phone will be allegedly landing at Verizon on November 3. The information comes in a rather cryptic form: "Fore on the date Bruce Wayne's true father did die; you shall in fact be able to buy in stores of red and black", tweets Tom Fleming. Well, Bob Kane, the creator of Batman (Bruce Wayne) did die on November 3 and the "red and black" store points to Verizon. Other than that, treat this as ...
