[Full Arrive Review] The HTC Arrive is the first Windows Phone 7 device on Sprint. It is also one of the only Windows Phone 7 devices to have a QWERTY slideout keyboard. What's different about this slider is that when the keyboard is slid out, the screen will tilt up to give a better viewing angle when typing on the keyboard. Inside the Arrive is a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 448MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. The Arrive's Super LCD screen measures 3.6-inches and has a 480 x 800 WVGA resolution. It also features a five-megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video recording with LED flash and autofocus. Read on for the latest HTC Arrive news, reviews and videos:

After a dry spell of almost unprecedented proportions, it looks like Windows Phone is finally making its way back to America's number-three carrier. That's not necessarily the biggest news of the quarter, but there's a few reasons this new development should have fans of Microsoft's platform cheering. First, some back-story. Sprint may be the last nationwide carrier to get on board with the current version of Windows Phone, but it was there for the last go-round. The carrier launched the Windows Phone 7-powered HTC Arrive -the CDMA version of the HTC 7 Pro- way back in March 2011. While ...

It's no secret that Sprint is less than the biggest Windows Phone fan around. Its lineup has always been tiny, with only the HTC Arrive available as an option, and statements from company execs made it clear that it wasn't happy with the platform Microsoft came up with. It now looks like the Windows Phone 7 chapter of Sprint's story may be officially over, upon the carrier withdrawing the Arrive from online sales. Currently, the only Windows model offered by the carrier is an ancient Windows Mobile ruggedized handset. You might have some luck getting your hands on the Arrive (hardly a ...

HTC couldn't let Nokia win it all with its free turn-by-turn offline navigation solution bundled with Lumia Windows Phones. Some HTC Locations users on Android had the opportunity to download maps but now there's a new version available for Windows Phone users rocking Taiwanese phones. Now the new version of HTC Locations allows you to download maps and use them for offline navigation. The new description reflects just that: "find your way with directions or voice guidance. You can download maps to your phone for offline use, or search and browse online maps when you're connected". If you ...

Some comments made by Sprint exec David Owens a couple days ago really stirred-up some heated emotions in Windows Phone fans. Owens talked about the carrier's experience with the HTC Arrive, the only Windows Phone handset offered on the network, and painted it as a phone that customers just didn't understand or were unhappy with the user interface. He placed the blame for this situation on Microsoft, which he felt hadn't adequately been informing the public about the platform and cultivating enthusiasm for its family of smartphones. In the comments from our post, site readers showed a good ...

If you're a Windows Phone fan, you may have noticed that there's not much love coming out of Sprint. Right now, the only smartphone on the platform offered by the carrier is the HTC Arrive - hardly a rich selection of models. David Owens, Sprint VP of product realization, recently discussed some of the carrier's future plans, and touched on its dissatisfaction with Windows Phone. Owens points to a lack of user enthusiasm for the platform, noting in reference to sales of the Arrive, "the number-one reason the product was returned was the user experience." Sprint would like the platform to ...

The Microsoft Store is having a pretty nice Black Friday sale today through Monday while supplies last. Amoung other good deals on PCs, Xbox bundles, games, and accessories, there's also some free Windows Phones. Of course, that is to say free with a new contract (or upgrade), but still that's pretty good. The free phones available are the new HTC Radar 4G on T-Mobile, the HTC Trophy on Verizon, or the HTC Arrive on Sprint. You don't have to go into a store either since you can just place the order online at the Microsoft Store website. If you or a family member were thinking about a new ...

Windows Phone Mango is probably the most anticipated platform (refresh) for mobile devices coming out of Redmond. Those lucky (brave) enough already got a taste of Mango using Beta or RTM versions and, while we showed you how to downgrade to NoDo, it appears that Microsoft will make an upgrade path available that doesn't need you to revert. Here's the status of the Mango updates for the U.S. carriers, according to current reports: Sprint will most probably start the roll-out process of Mango for its Arrive Windows Phone. If the information on its own support page is to be believed (and we ...

HTC launched its first Windows Phone 7 smartphone on Sprint this past spring as the HTC Arrive, the CDMA version of the 7 Pro. Prior to the phone's release, we had heard the phone referred to by the codename Ruby. After the Arrive, well, arrived, Ruby chatter died off and we were content to believe that the smartphone was indeed this new Windows Phone 7 device. Well, that might have been premature, as now the HTC Ruby has popped back on our radar, and it's not quite what we were expecting. The photos above and below are marked as being taken by an HTC Ruby, catching a glimpse of themselves ...

If you're into buying a Windows Phone-powered smartphone, Microsoft Store has you covered as it has a great deal on some devices running the Redmond-platform and listed on different carriers. The Verizon Trophy, Sprint Arrive and T-Mobile HD 7, all made by the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC, are being sold for $0.01 of course, all with their respective two-year contracts. The offer is also valid for new lines, upgrades/renewal or add-a-line. Strangely AT&T doesn't have any Windows Phones listed but if you're into either CDMA or T-Mobile this is your chance to grab one Windows Phone for close ...

Rumor had it last week that the Sprint HTC Arrive -- a carrier variant of the HTC 7 Pro with CDMA radio installed -- will get the Windows Phone 7 May Security update on May 24. Well, it's one day late but at least is reportedly rolling out to your QWERTY Windows Phones on Sprint. In order to get the update, connect your HTC Arrive to your computer running Zune via the USB cable and check for updates -- in case you didn't receive the update notification. The security update fixes the issues with the fraudulent certificates that was affecting the smartphone iteration of Internet Explorer too ...

The Sprint HTC Arrive, carrier variant of the HTC 7 Pro, is the first CDMA-enabled Windows Phone and it scored a 3.5 out of 5 in our review. It generally goes for $199.99 subsidized with a full purchase price without a contract of $449.99 but Amazon has got a great deal on the smartphone. If you like QWERTY keyboards, are on Sprint (or not just yet) and you're a Windows Phone fan you can grab the HTC Arrive for as low as $0.01 for a limited time. Not only it was the first CDMA Windows Phone 7 but is, to date, the only tilt-up slide-out QWERTY keyboard enabled smartphone running Redmond's ...

The HTC Arrive is Sprint's Windows Phone -- a carrier variant of the HTC 7Pro with CDMA radio installed -- and it shipped with Windows Phone 7 NoDo update out of the box. It will allegedly receive its 7392 update next week on May 24, according to a leaked screenshot. Though not much can be read from the image above, the update is referred to as 1.29.651.02 security update. We're positive this is the 7392 update -- aka May update -- that fixes Internet Explorer's vulnerability caused by those fraudulent certs. Microsoft started distributing the update on May 3 and we can say Sprint is doing ...

When Sprint announced the HTC Arrive Windows Phone back at the end of February, we were told that it will come with Sprint TV and Movies, among others. The Sprint TV & Movies application made its way to the Windows Phone Marketplace -- if you have an HTC Arrive, you can access it via the Sprint hub section of the Marketplace -- and is available to download. With a lot of free content, Sprint TV & Movies also comes with premium features that require some extra dollars but unfortunately the application will only allow you to stream via your Data Connection. If you're on Sprint with your ...

The HTC 7 Pro is known as the HTC Arrive in the US thanks to Sprint -- as well as its CDMA support -- and the device looks to be landing soon at Cellular South together with the HTC Desire II -- basically the Desire S -- and the Wildifre S. The information comes from a screen grab of what looks to be the carrier's system in which the three devices are listed. Calling the Desire S the Desire II is nothing out of the ordinary -- just remember the HTC Incredible S is called the Incredible II with Verizon -- which makes us wonder why the Wildfire S remained non-renamed. A bigger -- and ...

While Microsoft has yet to open Windows Phone 7's compass API to app developers, handset manufacturers have access to more open programming tools. This allows HTC to release the first WP7 magnetic compass app with the HTC Arrive. The app was simultaneously introduced to the marketplace and it was quickly discovered to be compatible with other HTC WP7 devices. The app prompts you to wave your phone in a figure-eight to calibrate the sensor, then overlays a compass on a map of your current location. The map allows you to select a destination for walking directions, and rotates according to ...
