Casio G’zOne C811 Finally Shows Its Face; Now When Will Verizon Sell It?

by Stephen Schenck on

Remember the old Casio G’zOne Commando? The rugged Android hit Verizon back in 2011. Last fall, we were wondering if Verizon was getting ready to replace it with a newer version, after seeing the G’zOne model C811 show up in FCC certification paperwork. In the months that followed, we never did see Verizon release that hardware, but we’ve now waited long enough for some additional FCC docs – previously withheld from publication – to arrive, finally show us the G’zOne C811 in the flesh.

Earlier, we only had a line art rendering of the C811, but now we can check it out in all its rugged glory. Unfortunately, without any new spec info, we really can’t tell you much about the hardware itself, but can see small details here, like the continued presence of capacitive Android buttons. There are some new internal circuit board pics in these new docs, but you can’t make out any chip markings.

We do get to see a few battery covers for the phone, and beyond the standard one, there will be a model that makes room for an extended battery, as well as one that supports wireless charging.

We’re still just as much in the dark as we were back in October as to just when Verizon might be planning to release this phone; it had better get around to it soon, as this hardware isn’t getting any younger.
