Google’s Wireless Service Set For Mid-Late 2013 As Data-Only VoIP?

by Anton D. Nagy on November 17, 2012 2:24 AM

According to recent reports Google might be in talks with Dish Network Corp. for becoming a wireless carrier, according to the Wall Street Journal’s sources. The information seems to be confirmed by 9to5google who have managed to find out more details about the project.

The talks are indeed allegedly in an advanced stage and Google might have everything in place for a mid-late-2013 roll-out. We are looking at a data-only service according to the report with voice and text messages being handled over data (VoIP). Dish has acquired its spectrum back in 2008 and, as the Wall Street Journal has reported, is waiting for potential partners “who would like to be in the industry” with plans to launch a cellular network using the Dish spectrum.
