Instagram For Windows Phone Rumored To Be In The Works

Instagram was making big headlines a few months back, with news of the app’s arrival on Android, as well as Facebook’s acquisition of the company behind it. We wondered back then what that purchase might mean for the possibility of seeing Instagram come to some other platforms, besides just Android and iOS. Some new rumors suggest that Windows Phone could soon be the latest kid on the block to join the Instagram club.

While these rumors really got started going around thanks to a Nokia promotional video that may or may not be showing-off an Instagram live tile, The Verge has been able to confirm independently that such an app is in the works.

The real question right now is who’s behind it, as the core Instagram team is apparently not involved with any Windows Phone port. There’s the possibility that Microsoft could be developing this one itself, presumably with Facebook’s blessings, but for now, that’s largely speculation. So far, there’s no rumored timetable by which we might hope to see Instagram for Windows Phone arrive.
