Lumia 920 “High Amplitude Audio Capture” Microphones Sound Intriguing
Ready for another reason to be excited about Nokia’s Lumia 920? While it hasn’t been promoted by the company during its announcements this week, there’s a rumor that the 920 will borrow some audio technology from Nokia’s PureView 808, hopefully leading to some clearer-than-ever audio quality.
The 920 supposedly employs a trio of High Amplitude Audio Capture microphones to record your voice. Those HAAC mics differ from standard components in that they’re able to record across their full frequency range for more volume levels than a non-HAAC mic could. The end result of this should be better voice sensitivity and audio fidelity even in loud environments. Nokia calls the combination of HAAC and the three mic arrangement “Rich Recording”.
While there hasn’t been mention of this directly in any 920 documentation, all the technology is reportedly there, even if Nokia isn’t referring to it by name. If we’re lucky, Nokia might have something more to say about all this in the weeks leading up to the phone’s rumored November release.
