With the iPhone 5′s launch creeping up on us, there are going to be tons of users out there looking to ditch their old iPhones in favor of the latest and greatest model. If you’d like to make your old phone a little more valuable by carrier unlocking it, AT&T has just made it easier than ever to get your iPhone unlocked.

While in the past you’d have to call AT&T up and get a live person on the line to facilitate your unlock request, you can now put in your unlock request with a simple online tool. Sure, you’ll still need to meet the carrier’s requirements in order to qualify for an unlock, but there’s nothing surprising about those: you’ll need to have fulfilled your contract requirements, have your bill paid-off, and not be rocking a stolen iPhone – all pretty common-sense stuff.

Then just enter in your phone details, and if all goes well, your phone should be unlocked after the five to seven days it takes to process the request (we know, that’s a little long). Both current subscribers and previous customers can access the online tool, so give it a look if you’ve got an old AT&T iPhone sitting around.
