Nexus 7 About To Be Joined By 3G Edition?
Google’s Nexus 7 tablet has been a big hit, due in no small part to its affordable price point. Sure, $200 is still pretty far from impulse buy territory, but it’s a whole lot more attractive than when we start talking about tablets that can cost more than a new TV.
Google and ASUS found plenty of ways to keep costs so low, like forgoing the tablet’s rear camera. Obviously, having it arrive WiFi-only, with neither the added expense of cellular hardware nor the specter of a lengthy service contract also played a considerable role. Are there users, though, who would willingly pay a bit more for the convenience of an always-connected 3G Nexus 7? We may be about to find out this fall, upon the rumor that such a tablet will land sometime in mid-October.
As far as frequency support, the possibility of LTE connectivity, and the ultimate effect on the Nexus 7′s price tag, these rumors leave us guessing for now.
