Possible Release Name Rumored For HTC’s Windows Phone 8 Accord
Late last week, we got our first look at what’s reportedly the HTC Accord, one of the three Windows Phone 8 handsets we’ve been expecting from the manufacturer. We’ve expected that Accord was a code name (this is a phone after all, not a car) along with the Rio and Zenith, and had been waiting for newer leaks in an attempt to finally learn of the names under which this trio would be released. While the latter two remain a mystery, we’ve now got our first stab at what might be the Accord’s real name, the HTC Windows Phone 8X.
Well, our first reaction may have been to think that’s both a bit short and odd for a phone name, but mulling over it a little longer, it does make some sense. It echoes the name of the Android-based One X, while keeping some Windows Phone 8 brand identity (hence, “8″ rather than “Eight”).
Presuming this name is correct, would we see an 8S or 8V from HTC, as well? That’s interesting because if we were to match these three rumored devices up against the One-series, we’d have placed the Zenith in line with the One X, and the Accord would seem more like the equivalent of the One S.
