August Is Nearly Over, So Where’s ICS For The HTC Thunderbolt?

HTC may have pulled the plug on the Ice Cream Sandwich update for its Desire HD, but despite the similarities between that hardware and the Thunderbolt on Verizon, the latter’s update has remained on the books. We’ve seen leaks of the manufacturer’s progress towards preparing an update, with the promise that it was “still planning to finish updates for all announced devices by the end of August”. The clock is rapidly running out on August, so where’s the Thunderbolt’s update? Did it get canned, too, after all? HTC says not to fret, and the update is still being worked on.

In response to a question from a user on Facebook about the status of ICS for the Thunderbolt, the company wrote, “We’re aware we missed the deadline and know you’re looking forward to the update. We’re actively working with Verizon on ICS software for the Thunderbolt, and we’ll notify customers as soon as we have an update.

Well, we suppose that’s preferable to being outright canceled, but by now Thunderbolt owners are bound to be getting just a bit frustrated. Let’s pick up the pace, HTC! We don’t want to see September end without the update out by then, either.
