Windows Phone 8 Launch Date Gets Rumored (Again)
The cat’s out of the bag with the first Windows Phone 8 hardware to be publicly revealed, Samsung’s ATIV S. Soon, we expect to have that model joined by a few from Nokia, as well as others from the rest of Microsoft’s hardware partners. We’re still wonder, though, just when Microsoft will hold its official Windows Phone 8 launch event. We’ve heard a few theories already, and today have one new rumor to add to the running.
A couple weeks back, we were tipped-off to a memo that seemed to suggest Microsoft’s big launch could take place on September 30. Mary Jo Foley has heard from her sources that the actual date could be a full month later, just after Windows 8 itself launches. According to her info, Microsoft is planning to kick-off WP8 on Monday, October 29.
Following this event, the first sales of WP8 should follow a week or two later, giving you your first chance to get your hands on one of these models sometime in mid-November.
Foley’s pretty plugged-in when it comes to these things, so we’re giving this theory quite a bit of credence.
