Verdict Reportedly Reached In Apple v. Samsung Trial
We just got done telling you about a request the jury in the Apple v. Samsung patent case had made, and why a bigger deal was likely being made out of it than was warranted. After all, the jury couldn’t really be planning on wrapping things up after just two days of deliberation, right? Well, apparently we SHOULD have been reading more into that request, as reports are now coming in that the jury has, indeed, come to a verdict.
It’s hard to imagine that the jury found the issues at hand as open-and-shut as they must have to come to their decision in so short a period of time, but it’s looking like we’ll learn the outcome of this case sometime this evening. Right now, the judge is reviewing the jury’s verdict; if they really messed something up, possibly due to misunderstanding an instruction, she’ll send them back to deliberations, and we won’t learn more until sometime next week. If, on the other hand, the verdict reads kosher, this could already be a done deal.
Anyone making any bets on who comes out on top?
Update: So far, it’s looking like Apple may be coming out ahead.
Update 2: While it wasn’t a slam dunk, Apple is clearly emerging as the victor here, and has been awarded a $1.05B judgement against Samsung.
