Leak Names LG, Sony, Samsung Nexus Models
For the past several months, there’s been a rumor hanging up in the air that Google could do something very differently for the arrival of its next Nexus-series smartphone, getting multiple OEMs involved. We noticed some of you talking about just that rumor in the comments from the leaked Samsung Nexus model doc that arrived earlier today, wondering what happened to those plans. Well, there might be something to them, at least according to a winter device schedule attributed to Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo.
The document mentions a number of devices, but we’re interested mainly in these Nexus models. There’s a Samsung one in there, sure enough, identified as the Galaxy Nexus II. That’s joined, though, by an LG Optimus Nexus and a Sony Xperia Nexus.
There’s scant detail given about this trio, only mentioning NFC for all three, and a waterproof construction for the LG Optimus Nexus.
So, maybe the leaked Samsung specs are accurate, and that will be more of a mid-range Nexus device, and one of these other manufacturers (and there could be more than just LG and Sony) would produce the real headlining model.
