Jelly Bean Now Coming To Official AOKP Build
Any Android custom ROM enthusiast worth his salt knows about the Android Open Kang Project. AOKP takes AOSP stock code and greatly expands upon it, adding in tons of features and extra customizable options. Now that Jelly Bean has come out, there have been nightly builds of AOKP for Android 4.1, and some official ones at that, but the the formal release was still based on Ice Cream Sandwich. Well, now it’s time for the project to start fully shifting over to Jelly Bean, upon the news of the first non-nightly official Jelly Bean build.
It looks like the AOKP guys are still finishing putting things together, as there don’t appear to be any downloads available right at this moment. Expect that to change over the next several hours, though, as the builds become public.
Since this is a big step, the developers aren’t looking to get flooded with a swarm of bug reports, so you’ll have to approach this release with patience; eventually they’ll start accepting bug reports again, and get working to fix those issues. For now, try and enjoy it for what it is, and look forward to many more JB AOKP builds to come.
