HTC 1080p Five-Inch Android Rumored For Early Fall Launch

Last month, benchmark figures revealed an HTC-made Android with an impressive 1794 x 1080 resolution. Beyond just having this high-res screen, the data suggested that the Verizon-bound phone would also be quite the powerhouse, getting us excited to learn more about the model. Now, a new rumor suggests that HTC plans on releasing this handset sometime in September or October.

Tales of this phone go back even farther than those benchmarks. In April, BGR reported on rumors that just such an HTC phone for Verizon would arrive this fall with a five-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Krait CPU, and Adreno 320 GPU.

That’s interesting, because those benchmarks reported the model in question only to have a dual-core MSM8960, which is one that should only run an Adreno 225. Because of the high performance, we wondered if the chip was really the MSM8960T, which would explain why this phone was reporting having an Adreno 320, but that still wouldn’t account for the two missing cores. While this new rumor about the phone’s availability mentions that particular 1794 x 1080 resolution, it doesn’t reiterate those quad-core claims, making us wonder if that early rumor wasn’t entirely accurate.

Dual-core or quad-core, we’re still looking forward to seeing just what this kind of ridiculously high resolution display will ultimately bring to Android.
