HTC “Proto” Could Be Latest Entry In Its One Series
HTC seems to be getting ready to add a couple new entries to its One series of Androids smartphones. We’ve already heard rumors about a hardware refresh for the One X, supposedly featuring a new NVIDIA SoC and arriving as the One X+. The latest rumor to arrive looks at a new One-series model on the other end of the scale, presumably arriving as an alternative to the One V.
The model is going by the codename “Proto”, which is as appropriate a name for an in-development smartphone as we’ve ever heard. Many of its rumored specs and capabilities place it directly in line with the One V. That includes things like a lack of LTE, a five-megapixel main camera, only 512MB of RAM, and a 1GHz CPU. While the clock speed may remain constant, the Proto will supposedly go with a much higher-performance Snapdragon S4 chip. Likewise, Proto is supposed to stick with a WVGA screen, but this time around it would measure-in at four inches instead of the One V’s 3.7.
Other available details on the Proto have it getting a little bulkier than the One V, growing half a millimeter in thickness to 9.62mm. There hasn’t been any talk of carriers yet, but without LTE, T-Mobile sure sounds like a possibility. According to the rumor, HTC is planning to release the phone sometime this fall.
