T-Mobile Galaxy Note Gets Price, Launch Details

Following months of rumors and leaked documents pointing to the arrival of Samsung’s Galaxy Note at T-Mobile, the carrier made things official earlier this month. At the time, though, T-Mobile wasn’t quite ready to share any of the specifics regarding just when it might start selling the Note, nor for what price. We saw August 8 mentioned as a potential retail launch date, and it looks like that leak was spot-on, with the carrier now confirming things.

The Note will sell for just about $250 on-contract, and after factoring-in a mail-in rebate. That’s the same as it’s going for on AT&T, which is unfortunate if any of you were hoping the phone’s arrival on T-Mobile might spell the chance for a better deal. Especially considering that we’re expecting Samsung to announce the Note 2 in mid-August, and just how much time has passed since the original Note’s 2011 launch, it’s a bit hard to believe that T-Mobile intends to introduce the handset with a premium price.

It’s a bit early to speculate if that means we’ll see a quick drop in the phone’s price, just a few weeks into its life on the carrier, but that certainly seems like it would be the smart move. Retailers like Amazon have the AT&T Note for only $200, at least, and even if T-Mobile won’t meet that price, we can expect at least some of them to offer similar savings for this new Note.
