Even The Nokia N9 Is Getting A Jelly Bean Port
Earlier this week, we saw the HTC HD2 live up to its reputation as one of the most flexible smartphones under the sun, getting a port of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean well in advance of many proper Androids. It’s not the only non-Android handset looking to get in on the Jelly Bean action, as we’ve now learned that a port is also available for Nokia’s N9.
The MeeGo-running N9 gave us our first look at the sort of design that would come to dominate Nokia’s Lumia line. While the hardware at the phone’s heart sounds a little underpowered by today’s standards, based around a TI OMAP3630 running at 1GHz, the Nokia handset is still very much up to the task of running Android.
Developers have been working on Android for the N9 for some time now; we looked at an earlier Ice Cream Sandwich build back in March, so it’s only fitting that Jelly Bean would arrive sooner or later as a follow-up. While we have this screenshot of Android 4.1 running on the phone to serve as confirmation, we still haven’t seen the public release of the files needed to get Jelly Bean working on your own N9; with any luck, all that should be dropping soon.
