While we’re on the subject of Sprint’s EVO 4G LTE, some progress is underway towards correcting the phone’s issues with Google Wallet, and Google itself has spoken-up to say that the problem should be resolved soon.

We first heard about the situation on Monday, but EVO 4G LTE owners have apparently been puttign up with it to one extent or another since the phone’s debut. It’s clear that not all users are running into the same roadblock, but a good number have reported problems getting Google Wallet to function, coming to a head most recently with the app display a message that it’s not certified for use on the phone/carrier.

The closest thing to an official comment on the situation we had at the time was a forum post attributed to a Sprint employee, acknowledging the problem and explaining that HTC was working on some kind of fix. Today, we get to hear Google’s side of the story, confirming that progress is underway on re-enabling the app.

The good news is that the glitch appears to be related to phone software, and that there’s nothing inherently borked with the EVO 4G LTE’s NFC hardware. There’s no specific promise for when the fix might be ready, suffice it to say that Google expects work to be done soon.
