Sprint Earns Some Brownie Points: Delayed EVO 4G LTE Coming With Free Gift
Dealing with carriers can be such a pain at times, whether you’re fighting over fees, trying to get a device upgrade, or dealing with network connectivity issues. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see one do something that’s all at once unexpected, unnecessary, and seems to be motivated by little more than wanting to do right by its subscribers.
We just heard yesterday that, following the phone’s delay in US Customs, the HTC EVO 4G LTE was finally starting to arrive in the hands of Sprint users who had pre-ordered the device. What we didn’t know then, though, is that Sprint has been delivering these handsets along with an extra treat.
To help make up a little for the delay, Sprint and HTC are providing these new EVO 4G LTE owners with a free cover for their handsets. Granted, it’s just a little something, but we don’t think anyone was expecting Sprint to reach out to customers who had pre-ordered the phone with any kind of compensation; after all, the situation that created the delay couldn’t have been less of Sprint’s fault. Granted, the note arriving with these gifts indicates they’re from both HTC and Sprint, but there’s really little reason for Sprint to be so willing to share the blame.
Add to all that how relatively short the delay ended up being, and it’s hard to paint this as anything other than Sprint going above-and-beyond for its user base. Good on ya, Sprint!
